“Voyageurs National Park” One Time around “Bittersweet”, Hiking & Just Releasing

On Monday & Tuesday Aug. 17 & 18, I was still staying at Woodenfrog State Forest Campground which is on Kabetogama Lake, MN, this lake part of the “Voyageurs National Park”. This park is all about boats, here is what their website said about the park.

Voyageurs National Park lies within the heart of the North American Continent.  Here you can see and touch rocks half as old as the world, experience the life of a voyageur, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of a boreal forest, view the dark skies, or ply the interconnected water routes. Leave your car behind and set out on the water highways of the North Woods.

There is some nice places to drive to but most of the things to do are done by boat here.

Here is great view of the lake.

I did do some hiking stopping at one of the many beaver ponds that are up here.

As I was leaving from this stop, I saw this deer right by the parking spot, I saw a lot of deer up here at all times of the day & night.

It was cooler both Monday & Tuesday only in the 60’s both days, windy & mostly cloudy. But later on Tuesday afternoon the breeze died down & I got out my Sea Eagle SE370 Inflatable Kayak, to take it out for a ride out on the lake, I was out for a little over two hours. I took a ride one time around one of the many inlands on this lake, this one is called “Bittersweet Inland”.

Here are some shots as I headed out to the inland.

Looks like it would be a nice for a campsite.

It got a little rougher when I got to the backside of the inland & out on the open part of the lake, but I still had a pleasant time out on the water.

Good thing that where was this lake marker buoy, or I may have not known what this was.

This is one of the many lodges here on the lake, most of them are setup for fishermen, they do a nice job with this.

I spent most of the rest of my time here just releasing. On Wednesday I headed back into Wisconsin, I stopped in Greenwood, by my brother & sister-in-law house. I was planning on only staying overnight, but they were going to have a yard sale on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. So I stayed to help (I still have some of my thing left here to sell). It is nice that I can change my plans at any time, now that I am retired. On Thursday as I am writing this we had sold over $800 dollars in sales, today the first day open, $30 of it that was mine, and that is a lot for me because I did not have much stuff left here. Tonight we will play some games & release, so we can open it up tomorrow again. It is nice that I able to stay & help. The plan is to get back to my home in Oxford, WI, some time to mow the lawn, change the oil in the car & RV, and do some laundry & a few more thing.

And then I have to get ready to go to Peninsula State Park in Door County, WI, for a two week stay, starting on Tuesday Aug. 25th. This is one of my favorite parks in Wisconsin, there is lots to do & see near here, more to come on this.
